John Murphy is CEO of Murphy’s New Zealand, a family business growing garlic and shallots since 1962. Under his leadership, the company produces 500 tonnes of garlic and 300 tonnes of shallots annually across Marlborough and Canterbury. Known for its premium produce and specialty black garlic, Murphy’s maintains full traceability and is NZGAP accredited with strong food safety standards.
John chairs Vegetables NZ, where he has advocated for growers for over a decade. A 2014 Nuffield Scholar, he has studied global farming systems and is committed to innovation and sustainability in New Zealand’s vegetable sector.
