Hort Connections Privacy Policy

Event organisers AUSVEG Ltd and the International Fresh Produce Association A-NZ (IFPA A-NZ) are committed to providing quality services to you. This Policy outlines our ongoing obligations to you regarding how we manage your Personal Information.

We collect Personal Information in various ways, including through online and telephone registrations for Hort Connections, email correspondence, event forms, ticketing systems and occasionally via third parties. While we take care when providing links, we cannot guarantee the privacy practices of third-party websites.

We collect your Personal Information for the primary purpose of delivering our events and related services. We may also use your Personal Information for:

Event administration and management.
Communication and customer support, Marketing and industry engagement activities.
Purposes directly related to the primary purpose where you would reasonably expect such use.

You may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by contacting us in writing.

Pseudonymity and Anonymity

Where it is practical, you may choose not to identify yourself or to use a pseudonym when interacting with us.

However, due to event security, registration processing, ticketing, payment, and onsite identification requirements, it is generally not possible to register for or attend Hort Connections anonymously.

Sensitive Information (as defined in the Privacy Act) includes information about racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, health information and similar matters.

Sensitive Information will only be used:

For the purpose for which it was collected.
For a directly related secondary purpose.

We use trusted third-party platforms to manage event registrations, communications and payments. These providers may store Personal Information on servers located inside or outside Australia.

Our key service providers include:

Mailchimp for email communications and marketing (may store data in the United States).
EventsAir for event and delegate management (primary storage in Australia, with some global infrastructure).
Xero for accounts and invoicing (primarily stored data in Australia and New Zealand).
SecurePay for payment processing (servers located in Australia).

Disclosure of Personal Information

No fee is charged for access requests, although administrative costs may apply for copying or retrieval.
