Shakira joined AUSVEG in 2018 and is currently working on raising awareness of pests and pathogens that negatively impact the vegetable and potato industries in Australia. Previously, she played a vital role in the 'Communications and Extension' subproject for iMapPESTS and led the Project Coordination of the iMapPESTS RD&E program. Shakira is a Plant Biotechnology graduate from La Trobe University, skilled in strategic coordination of collaborative projects, research extension, and science communication. Shakira’s post-graduate research in molecular plant pathology at La Trobe University was supported by the Plant Biosecurity Cooperative Research Center. She is actively involved in the research and extension community. She positions herself perfectly to continue the legacy of strong collaboration and interaction between industry, government, and research in the AUSVEG Farm Biosecurity Program.
