Ryan leads mango production system and plant physiology research for the Department of Primary Industries, Queensland, including the mango component of the National Tree Crop Intensification in Horticulture Program. This research aims to design high productivity orchard systems through improved understanding of orchard design and plant physiology.

Ryan is passionate about global development of tropical horticulture delivering keynote presentations in India, Central America, and Asia-Pacific.
